TCG Newsletter May 2021 - greetings

"Watch the stars in their courses and imagine yourself running alongside them. Think constantly on the changes of the elements into each other, for such thoughts wash away the dust of earthly life."

- Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor, 121-180 CE -

Let’s look at the night sky as Marcus Aurelius did in his time. We may come to realise the infinitesimal smallness of ourselves in comparison to the vast universe. At the same time, we may also come to understand our connectedness with every other being around us as a whole.

Each month, there are different days meaningful to different people around the world. Here are a few in May: International Mother’s Day (9th), Eid al-Fitr, the festival of Fast breaking (13th), and Vesak Day (26th).

Nevertheless, one very important in our modern world is perhaps the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on 21st May. Click here to learn more:

A Journey A Month…

Your Story. Our Story. The Human Story.

Last month, we talked about Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and the people we surround ourselves with within our spheres. This month, in celebrating the World Day for Diversity, I would like to share this clip (~ 2mins) from the United Nations.

"Five continents in one world, just like the five fingers on our hand!"

Indeed, we are one single human family on this planet. If you found the first clip interesting, here is an extended version (~25mins): “Mosaic. 7 billion Others.” To get the full impact, I recommend watching the clip uninterrupted till the end.

Like the stars on the night sky, I hope these clips have connected you, just like me, with the other 7 billion people out there.

TCG Newsletter May 2021 - hand heart

Today, the world is taken aback by the horrific resurgence of Covid cases in India. The only way to solve our modern-day problems such as the pandemic, climate change, cybersecurity, societal divide, racial disharmony, etc., is that we will need to work together and support each other. Albeit our differences, fundamentally, we share the same fear, and we have the same hope.

The world is fascinating, simply because

differences exist...

Spread the words, share the vision, do our part!

At TransCultural Group (TCG), we are determined to play our part in making the world a better place. We have just launched an e-book for Youth. A book recounting the enchanting adventures of two children from China into the world of an old French family as they explore their cross-cultural friendship.
